Elbow dysplasia (ED)
Description
Elbow dysplasia (ED) is an umbrella term for developmental abnormalities of the elbow joint. In many breeding programmes approved by DWV, ED is a mandatory or recommended examination, by X-ray (RX) from 1 year. A CT scan may be recommended, but is not mandatory. The result is a grade from 0 to 3; the grade of the most affected elbow counts as the final grade. The breeding advice for each combination of parent dogs is explained under the examination 'Elbow dysplasia (ED): X-ray'.

We are rebuilding the health information for each breed from the official breeding programme of Dierenwelzijn Vlaanderen (Animal Welfare Flanders). Until then, you can find the mandatory and recommended health tests for this breed in the breeding programmes under the Flemish Breeding Decree (Fokkerijbesluit). View the official breeding programmes
