Hip dysplasia (HD)
Description
Hip dysplasia (HD) is a developmental abnormality of the hip joint. In many breeding programmes approved by DWV, HD is a mandatory or recommended examination, by X-ray (RX): a VD image and a laxity image according to Vezzoni or PennHIP, from 1 year (laxity image from 6 months). Dogs with arthrosis may not be used for breeding. The hip with the worst value counts as the final result. The result and the breeding advice for each combination of parent dogs are explained under the examination 'Hip dysplasia (HD): X-ray and laxity image'.
