Legg-Calvé-Perthes (LCP)
Description
Legg-Calvé-Perthes (LCP) is a condition of the head of the femur. In the breeding programmes approved by DWV, LCP is a recommended examination for the Cairn Terrier and the Schipperke, by X-ray of the hips (RX, VD), from 1 year and once. The breeding advice is only positive when both parent dogs are clear, meaning no signs of LCP on the X-ray; the other combinations are subject to a breeding ban.
